The Devin Howard Memorial Foundation is a nonprofit organization built around community involvement, empowering children and promoting epilepsy awareness and education.
Our story:
Devin Michael Howard is our brave, beautiful, forever 10-year-old little boy, with an infectious smile and a heart of gold. Devin was diagnosed with epilepsy at 2 years old, initially developing absence seizures, progressing over the following 8 years to upwards of 100 seizures daily, including absence seizures, partial complex seizures and tonic-clonic seizures. Devin had failed treatment with anti-epileptic medications, the ketogenic diet and eventually underwent brain surgery to implant a deep brain stimulator device in an attempt to control his seizure disorder.
Despite his lifelong battle with this difficult disease, Devin was a fierce to be reckoned with and exuded confidence, never letting his diagnosis get in his way. He was strong willed, fearless and never missed an opportunity to be the life of the party! Devin had a mountain to climb ahead of him to overcome all of his adversities and he took each step in stride, often chanting “Nothing can stop me, I’m all the way up!”
