6th Grade Graduation!

Today, we’re feeling a mix of emotions. We miss our boy so much, especially on days like this when milestones come and go without him. At the same time, we’re so excited for Aiden and incredibly grateful to be here, celebrating with him and his amazing classmates. As we hold space for both the joy and the ache, we’re reminded that grief and gratitude are not opposites. They coexist (Brené Brown). And today, they live side by side in our hearts.

Racebrook Elementary will forever hold a special place in our hearts. After nine wonderful years, this marks the end of an era for our family—a place we have proudly called home. Racebrook has been more than just a school; it has been a source of warmth, comfort, and unwavering support. RBS has helped guide our children not just through academics, but through friendships, challenges, and life itself—with extraordinary compassion and care.

We have witnessed what true community looks and feels like here. Every teacher, administrator, and staff member who has touched our lives has done so with grace, and we are endlessly thankful for the role they’ve played in our family’s story.

The 6th grade class of 2025 has faced hardships no child should have to endure, yet they have done so with incredible strength and unwavering support for one another. Their resilience continues to inspire us. Because of Racebrook, our children have learned to take risks, to be kind, and to grow into the independent individuals we dreamed they would become when they first walked through those doors in 1st grade. For all of this, and so much more, we are forever grateful!

Today is not only a celebration of the 6th graders’ academic achievements, but also a tribute to the strength, compassion, and determination they have demonstrated throughout their journey.

Devin’s life left a lasting mark on each of us. Through the Devin Howard Award, we honor his memory by recognizing the courage and resilience of children in our community who face life’s challenges with bravery and optimism. Devin was proud to be part of this school. His spirit continues to inspire us—especially in the way his classmates have grown, persevered, and lifted one another up with kindness and support. This award is not only a tribute to Devin’s life but a celebration of the courage it takes to keep going when the road is hard.

To every student in this class: never forget that you can do hard things. You have already proven this, as today, you are leaving Racebrook Elementary School wiser, stronger, and more compassionate than ever.
